The Producers
The Diamonds & Pearls story starts as all good stories do – with two friends and a dream. College classmates turned colleagues when they started performing together in the Birmingham burlesque scene, Lucy Sky Diamonds and Furiosa Pearl quickly bonded over their shared love for theatre, vintage fashion, and all things sparkly. They also learned that they shared a passion for classic burlesque and a desire to bring that style of the art form to Birmingham. During one of many conversations, they came up with the name, “Diamonds & Pearls,” and a new production company was born, in June of 2024.
The love and support Diamonds & Pearls received exceeded the pair’s wildest dreams. It soon became clear that the company needed to expand, so the two began to look for new venues, new performers, and new opportunities.
In 2025, Lucy stepped up to the role of full solo producer when Furiosa moved away to pursue an educational opportunity. Today, Lucy does the impressive work of running both the managerial side and the production and performer management side of Diamonds & Pearls, a company with intermittent full-scale revues, multiple weekly and monthly recurrent shows, a cast of 11+ full-time, regular guest, and up and coming performers, and an amazing support crew. Furiosa remains lovingly involved in an advisory role, watching hers and Lucy’s dream blossom from afar.
The Founding Cast
When choosing who to cast in the Diamonds & Pearls production, Dahlia Nightshade and Electra were obvious choices. Both performers bring immeasurable talent and passion to their unique perspectives of classic burlesque.
Fresh New Faces
As demand for shows increased, Furi and Lucy realized the Diamonds and Pearls family had to grow. The two began a long process of scouting, and recruited additional members for the company from among some of Birmingham’s favorite established drag performers who wanted to try their hand at some showgirl shimmying, and exciting new talent who had recently made their debuts and were looking for mentorship. With this expanded cast, we are now able to offer even more of the shows you love, including a new monthly revue!
